The décor in Queens No1 is relaxed with purples and reds and plenty of light woodwork.  The large fireplace is very unusual, made from small purple tiles; lots of people have remarked on its Gaudi-like appearance.  We have an amazing and rare collection of pictures from the 1950s film Some Came Running.  These feature many behind the scenes shots of the stars Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Shirley MacLaine and the film's director Vincente Minnelli.

The staff at Queens No1 are warm, friendly and very professional.  Our customers are cosmopolitan; you'll always find someone to chat to over a pint, on the other hand you can relax with a latte on one of the large comfortable sofas.  A large table towards the back of the bar seats large groups, and with sofas and armchairs nearby is ideal for parties.  Parents can expect their children to be made welcome, though we do have a rule, 'not after 7.00pm'.

On hot summer's days we offer special jugs of White Sangia made with orange, lemon, lime, apple, strawberries, grapes and a big kick!  We also have jugs of the old favourite Pimm's, Bloody Marys or our speciality Queen Marys made with Hendrick's cucumber gin, topped with tomato juice served spicy or plain with celery sticks.  During colder evenings, try a Winter Pimm's with hot apple, orange juice citrus fruits, apple and cinnamon; or maybe a hoy toddy with your favourite winter warming spirit, honey and cloves.  We have a Happy Hour Mondays to Fridays between 6.00 and 8.00pm — a pint of lager for £2.50 or a large house spirit with a mixer for only £3.00!

We serve no-nonsense pub food during lunchtimes from 12.00 — 3.00pm Monday to Friday, 12.00 — 4.00pm on Saturdays. Anwar, our house chef, has recently given the menu a complete makeover. You can view or download our menu from this site. On Sundays we have an all-day menu. You can enjoy a great traditional Sunday roast with sirloin of beef, boneless leg of pork or lamb all served with Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and three vegetables, served from 12.30 until 9.00pm, or until we run out! Don't forget to check the chalkboard for our daily specials.

In the evenings from Monday to Saturday we have a complete change.  Kelly, our authentic and experienced Thai chef, will cook you traditional Thai cuisine between 6.00 and 10.00pm.  Her menu features great tasty ribs and an unusual prawn starter - king prawn wrapped in a thin noodle and deep fried; a lighter version of the spring roll, unlike the usual deep fried variety; crab and prawns wrapped in a Vietnamese-style pancake served open style with hoi sin sauce.  There are wonderful Thai curries including Pad Thai and a delicious Mussamun with Thai bread to mop up the scrumptious sauce; fried sea bass and all the usual chicken, prawn and beef dishes.  If you're unsure what to order, our staff will be happy to explain the dishes to you.
